Patient Services through Medico Social Workers
    • Counseling
      A cancer diagnosis can mean increased distress for patients and their families. Highly skilled and professionally trained in counseling, clinical social workers are on hand to provide short-term counseling free of charge.
    • Resources
      The social workers at BIO serve as a link between you, the health care system, and the community. Based on your specific needs, the social worker will help identify appropriate resources. With changing personal needs, you may find yourself needing help with resources related to:
  • Accomodation 
  • Travel
  • Financial support programs
  • Community support programs
  • Home healthcare
Patient Services through Support Groups
    • Support groups provide a time for patients and family members to discuss feelings, concerns and attitudes. Many of the groups are facilitated by professionally trained social workers and other members of the supportive care team. The Bio support group is called as BIO Sanmithra. More details about the group is available with the MSW department at 513.

  Community Services


The primary mission of the Community Services Department is to provide integrated cancer care and resources to the people in and around Karnataka, and some parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The philosophy behind the department towards patient care is that a multidisciplinary approach is both necessary and beneficial to ensure that all patient needs are identified and provided for. Relationships are maintained with specialists from other medical centers to facilitate the referral of patients who need specialized care. The Community cell has established affiliations and participates in various camps in and around Karnataka and TamilNadu. As part of our efforts to promote early detection of cancer, the Cancer Center offers free cancer screenings throughout the year. The community health cell at BIO also participates in local community events related to free checkups and cancer awareness programs Throughout the year, members of the hospital's medical staff, and other health professionals, offer health information in various seminars and events for the general public free of cost. Camps include, Oral Oncology Camps, Gynaec Oncology camp. General preventive Oncology Camp
